Day #3 @ Paul Mitchell The School

I was introduced to my first Mannequin head on my 3rd day of class. For now, I'll be calling her Galadriel. In order to make my Mannequin head last through a couple different styles, I won't be doing any Short Styles on her for quite a while.

This is Called a "Bamboo Braid."
So, apparently we are going to be learning and practicing braids but will not be tested on them. Which makes sense since nobody I know goes to a beauty parlor or barber to get braids.

My first "Corn Row." It wasn't actually too hard. It's basically just an inverted french braid.

This is my first "Fish Tale" braid. Ali, the girl sitting next to me is a braiding machine and showed me how to do this.

My Favorite part of the day was learning about, and practicing "Finger Waves." This is something I hope to get a lot better at. I love the way it looks and I want to be a lot more comfortable doing them. Finger Waves were made most popular back in the 20's-30's but are making a really solid comeback in music videos and photo shoots.

  1. You should make a tutorial on how to make the bamboo braids. I've had them done on my hair by a Paul Mitchell student but I want to learn myself too! It seems like the internet has nothing on them! Thank you!
