Day #4 @ Paul Mitchell The School

So, my first week @ the Paul Mitchell school is almost over, and I can really feel the time flying by. They are always letting us take a break or playing a game to keep us engaged and focused. For my ADD behind, this is good news and it makes the day go by in a snap. For instance, today we learned about "draping." Basically draping is just the process of covering/protecting the client or "guest" with the appropriate cape and additional towel or tissue around the neck, depending on the services you'll be providing. To help us digest the information Kevin, our Learning Leader, informed us that we would be having a "draping rodeo" right in the middle of the salon floor! Basically, it was a relay between two teams to see who could drape the quickest.

Towards the end of the day we actually got to practice giving each other 5 minute scalp massages. Which was most triumphant given the fact that I had just finished doing my first "shampoo set" ever. If you are wondering what a shampoo set is, just think Sophia from the "Golden Girls." It boils down to a good shampoo and conditioning and while the hair is still wet, you "set" the hair with a healthy does of "Goop" and some rollers.
Just when you think you know somebody, they go and bite off the top of their RockStar.
My first shampoo! She was quiet, and cooperative. And, well... the look in her eye says it all.
